Groton, CT – General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp. has secured a $642.3 million contract modification to continue design and support work for the Navy’s Virginia class submarine program, the Pentagon announced.

Contract work spread across four states

The cost-plus-fixed-fee modification, tied to a previously awarded agreement, covers Lead Yard Support and design studies for the fast-attack submarine fleet. Most of the work will be performed at Electric Boat’s Groton shipyard (94%), with smaller portions assigned to facilities in McLeansville, NC (3%); Newport News, VA (2%); and Newport and Quonset, RI (1%). The project is expected to be completed by April 2026.
