WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A new mural at the South Waco Community Center was officially unveiled today, celebrating Texas’s Hispanic heritage and local contributions.
It covers three windows of the community center and features key figures that have influenced Texas in culture, arts, and justice, with the last panel featuring local Wacoans.
The mural’s Mexico-born artist, Jesus Rivera, says it celebrates the deep-seated relationship between Texas and Hispanic culture.
“I put Mexicans and Texans here because Mexicanos and Tejanos… We are united throughout history,” he said.
The painting is a collaboration between the Cesar Chavez Neighborhood Association and the city of Waco. The painting process began back in October and took nearly eight months to complete. Rivera said he worked for over 1
