The Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado is the new home of a historic U.S. Marine Corps Jeep that will help transport the remains of Marine Corps veterans to their final resting place.

The Jeep was delivered to the cemetery Friday afternoon where groups from the Western Slope Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3981 and Auxiliary 3981, members with the Grand Valley Combined Honor Guard and members with the Patriot Guard Riders met the historic vehicle.

“Our cemetery has military jeeps that are utilized to transport remains of veterans, spouses and dependents from their committal shelter to the final resting place,” Judy Norman said at the event. “Historically, we have had three military jeeps — U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force.”
