A footie fan built a £5,000 stand in his back garden for him and his grandsons to cheer on their favourite team.

Ian Nutter, 65, decided to build the six-seater terrace after spotting three of his eight grandsons perched precariously over his back fence, straining to watch local team Barnoldswick Town play. The doting grandad from Barnoldswick, Lancs , revealed there's a precarious '15 foot drop' behind the fence which is just metres from the pitch.

To keep the lads safe, he decided to craft his very own viewing box. Ian, who runs an architectural metalwork firm and has worked with big names like Manchester United , then dedicated the next six weeks to assembling the eight-foot-long seating area.

Ian shared: "I didn't set out to build this it just grew organically.
