SOLON, Iowa (KCRG) - People spent their Saturday morning doing their part to keep Lake Macbride State Park a clean and safe place for others to enjoy.

“It’s a special place to us and we like to come out most years so we can volunteer and give a little back,” volunteer Megan Richardson said.

The group focused on removing the park’s invasive plants as part of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources’ Statewide Volunteer Day .

Richardson said she enjoys helping Lake Macbride’s park rangers with projects like this.

“There’s always stuff to do and I know like they just, there’s no way to keep up with it. So it’s great to be able to be a part of it and help,” Richardson said.
