JEFFERSON COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) - One person was taken to the hospital this week after being struck by a car while riding a bicycle.
One Wednesday, September 24, just before 5 p.m., the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department was called to the 1900 block of Pleasant Plain Road for a report of a bicyclist who had been hit by a car at a bike trail crossing.
Deputies say a pickup truck had been traveling north on that road when it hit a bicyclist who did not stop before crossing the road. It was found that the bicyclist was a juvenile.
The victim was taken to a local hospital and was later flown to UIHC with serious injuries.
The names of the driver and the victim are not being released at this time. No other information about the incident has been released.
