PORTLAND, Ore. – Oregon's congressional delegation has called on President Donald Trump to halt plans to deploy federal troops to Portland. This demand follows Trump's directive to send military forces to the city with orders to use full military force.

In a letter addressed to President Trump, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, U.S. Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley, along with Representatives Suzanne Bonamici, Andrea Salinas, Val Hoyle, Maxine Dexter and Janelle Bynum, expressed their concerns.

"This unilateral action represents an abuse of executive authority, seeks to incite violence, and undermines the constitutional balance of power between the federal government and states," the lawmakers said.
