Ground was broken Thursday for Nevada’s fourth Latter-day Saint temple and the second built in the Las Vegas area.

Called the Lone Mountain Nevada Temple, it was announced in October 2022 and covers about 20 acres southwest of Hickman Avenue, between North Grand Canyon Drive and Tee Pee Lane in Las Vegas. The temple will be three stories, with an overall height of nearly 200 feet, including the central tower. Its total floor area will be approximately 70,200 square feet.

Elder Michael A. Dunn, first counselor in the United States Southwest area presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, presided over the event and gave the dedicatory prayer, according to a church press release.
