The Sox didn’t seem addled by a late-night celebration, so much as they seemed to return to their procrastinating selves. I say procrastinating because they keep putting off doing the damage and then they run out of time.

Connelly Early was dominant in the early innings, while the offense put together a few singles. It was looking good, and they even managed to push one run across…until the fifth. First, Nathaniel Lowe collided with Carlos Narváez on a pop-up that the catcher clearly called. No harm done, everyone walked away with a smile but it was scary while it lasted. Next, Early wavered a bit, issuing his first walk—to the nine-hole hitter—and loading the bases. The Tigers went on to score, twice, and the walk hurt. The Tigers took the lead and didn’t look back.
