VANDALIA, Ohio — Members of Ohio Task Force 1 have been called to deploy to the Carolinas ahead of the threat for severe weather in the region.

Ohio Task Force 1 was placed on Alert Status as of 9 a.m. on Saturday for a Type III Urban Search & Rescue Team with a special focus on water rescue operations.

The National Weather Service issued warnings for the potential for significant rainfall and flooding as strong storms approach the coast.

A roster of 47 members has been set and will be headed by Task Force Leader Ryan Hogsten. It will include 17 water rescue specialists and two canine search specialists with their canines.

The group will deploy on Sunday morning. They are scheduled to deploy before 8 a.m. from the OH-TF1 facility, located in Vandalia.
