Stephen Peacocke has worked his fair share of crappy jobs.
For most of his twenties, he slogged it out on building sites, labouring in high-vis, laying bricks or installing lawn turf. It wasn’t until he was approaching 30 that the aspiring actor experienced something resembling career success.
That breakthrough moment came in 2011 when he was cast to play Darryl “Brax” Braxton, one of the surfing gang known as the River Boys on the phenomenally successful Aussie soap Home And Away.
It was his first professional acting role and as it has for countless Australian stars over the years, it proved to be a game-changer.
“I remember just feeling so exhilarating to be shooting on a set,” says Peacocke, who is chatting with STM over the phone from his home on the east coast.
