Two people are dead and four others injured after a horror crash on Indian Ocean Drive on Saturday afternoon between a ute and a hatchback.

The 46-year-old driver of the Suzuki hatchback and his 47-year-old female passenger died at the crash scene, near Wedge Island, police confirmed this morning.

A 64-year-old woman who was driving the Isuzu and her three passengers sustained minor injuries. They were all treated at Joondalup Health Campus.

The collision about 2.30pm resulted in Indian Ocean Drive being closed from Lancelin to Cervantes while emergency services were at the scene.

The injured trio were taken to hospital but their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
