MACON, Ga. — A powerful event in Macon on Saturday brought attention to the reality of sex trafficking in Georgia.

The "Secrets and Stilettos: Survivors of Sex Trafficking" held in Macon's Anderson Conference Center gave a platform to survivors whose lives have been forever impacted by sex trafficking.

Keynote speakers Cyntoia Brown Long and Tiffany Simpson both shared how they were trafficked as teenagers.

Brown Long was sentenced to life in prison at just 16 years old — after shooting a man who paid her for sex.

Her story gained national attention — and eventually led to clemency in 2019.

Simpson was trafficked at 17 and sentenced to 30 years for recruiting another minor.

She served nearly 11 years before her release under Georgia's vacatur law — which allows trafficking survivo
