5 Freeway through Grapevine, Tehachapi, Frazier Mountain Communities and Mojave Desert Slopes were placed under a report for strong thunderstorms by the National Weather Service on Saturday at 5:49 p.m. The alert is in effect until 6:15 p.m.
The storms may bring pea-sized hail (0.25 inches).
“At 5:49 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm 16 miles southwest of Stallion Springs, or 34 miles north of Fillmore, moving south at 10 mph,” says the NWS Hanford CA . “Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible.”
The alert is for Interstate 5 over the Grapevine and Lebec.
The NWS said, “If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
