A man is assisting police after the discovery of a body outside a shopping village in Brisbane 's bayside overnight.

Police were called to the centre on Trevally Crescent in Manly West just before 3am after the body of a man in his 40s was found with critical injuries.

It is being treated as a suspicious, sudden death.

Police say a 45-year-old man is assisting police.

Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam is urged to contact police.

This includes vision of anyone walking along Trevally Crescent, Radford Road and Miles Crescent between midnight and 3am this morning.
