2024 MotoGP champion Jorge Martin suffered a violent opening-lap crash during the Japanese Grand Prix Tissot Sprint, collecting his Aprilia teammate Marco Bezzecchi in the process. After the Spanish rider was immediately examined in the medial center, it was later confirmed that he will undergo surgery.
X-ray scans revealed that Martin had suffered a displaced fracture in his right collarbone, marking his fourth major injury of the 2025 season.
An initial statement explained: "Jorge Martin has undergone medical examinations at the circuit medical centre.
"The X-rays revealed a displaced fracture of the right collarbone. The rider will be transferred by helicopter to the Dokkyo Medical University Hospital for a CT scan to make the best assessment of the situation."
