A car crash has closed Highway 4 between Parksville and Port Alberni. There is not yet an estimated time the road will reopen with drivers waiting in line for hours since the crash, which was around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

There is not yet an estimated time for the road to re-open with DriveBC saying an update is expected at 7 p.m. It is possible that update provides no new information on when the road may re-open.

DriveBC has posted no alternative route to get between Port Alberni and Parksville.

Some on social media said earlier in the day they were turned around due to how long the closure would be.
