HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The Houston Astros were eliminated from MLB postseason contention on Saturday night.

With the Cleveland Guardians beating the Texas Rangers on Saturday, the Astros will not be playing October baseball after the Guardians clinched a postseason berth. The last time that the Astros missed the playoffs was in 2016.

Through the course of the regular season, the 'Stros were plagued by injuries to a handful of their core players, including Yordan Alvarez, Luis Garcia, Josh Hader, and Jeremy Peña, just to name a few.
