TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Florida Governor Ron DeSantis shared remarks on the state’s 287(g) ICE agreements.
DeSantis said the Department of Homeland Security will reimburse the state for its immigration enforcement.
The announcement comes after a four-day operation in Brevard County, which led to the detainment of 354 people who were in the state illegally.
Florida is currently fronting hundreds to millions of dollars to house immigrant detainees for the federal government.
Detainees are being held in state-run facilities as they appeal their cases or await deportation.
Governor DeSantis said the DHS is making good on its promise to pay the state back.
