ACC fines Virginia $50,000 for insane field storming after FSU upset

Virginia’s upset win over Florida State came with a price tag.

The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Saturday it had fined the Cavaliers $50,000 after fans stormed the field following their 46-38 double-overtime victory over the eighth-ranked Seminoles on Friday night.

The fine stems from the ACC’s field-storming policy, which issues escalating penalties to schools for each offense. Since this was Virginia’s first Infraction, the five-figure sum will go into a conference scholarship fund benefiting graduate student-athletes.

UVA Fans poured onto the field seconds after Florida State’s final play, which was a fourth-down pass to receiver Squirrel White that was intercepted in the end zone.
