New week, same problems for Auburn football.
The Tigers were back on the road, once again playing in a loud environment, and penalties were an issue. By the end of its 16-10 loss to Texas A&M , Auburn had 10 penalties for 69 yards, and half of them were offensive pre-snap penalties.
"The pre-snap ones are unacceptable," Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze said after the game. “I don’t know the holdings and the other ones until you watch the film and how accurate those are. The pre-snap ones have hurt us every road game we’ve had.”
Of the five pre-snap penalties, four were false starts and one was an illegal shift on a third down in the second half. Two of the false starts were on left tackle Xavier Chaplin, who Freeze called out by name during his halftime interview.
