Imphal, September 27 2025: "The Steering Committee on Vaiphei IDPs" has denounced an alleged plan of the Government to close relief camps spread over different districts by December 2025 and resettle IDPs at their original villages/homes.

In a statement, the committee said this plan was disclosed by the Chief Secretary during his recent visit to Churachandpur district.

The decision is unfortunate and ill-timed being bereft of any sound logic considering the overall law and order situation in the State.

The committee strongly opposes the move to close the relief camps, it said.

Any plan to send the IDPs back or close relief camps without any alternatives will prove suicidal/disastrous unless there's real peace in place.
