PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Two Portland police officers and a suspect were taken to the hospital after a fight Saturday morning when the suspect tried to grab an officer's gun from his holster, authorities said.

The incident unfolded around Oregon Park on NE 30th Avenue around 10:30 a.m. when the officers spotted a man who was believed to have been hitting passing cars with a metal pole earlier in the morning near Northeast 33rd over I-84.

When officers spotted the man, officials said, "the suspect began fighting with the two officers." Backup was called and alerted the suspect -- whose name has not been released -- was trying to get the holstered gun from an officer.
