EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Michigan State volleyball swept rival Michigan 3-0 on Saturday night at the Breslin Center. It’s MSU’s first conference win of the year and the first Big Ten win for first-year head coach Kristen Kelsay.
MSU won the opening set 25-14, the second set 25-22, and the third set 25-21.
Freshman outside hitter Biana Mumcular led the way for MSU, posting a double-double with 15 kills and 12 digs. Junior outside hitter Karolina Staniszewska had 13 kills and eight digs, and sophomore middle blocker Carmen Waye had nine kills. Redshirt freshman setter Malayah Long had 36 assists.
Next up for MSU is a road matchup at Northwestern on Oct. 3.
Michigan returns to Ann Arbor to host No. 12 Minnesota on Oct. 1.
