The Red Sox had plenty of reason to celebrate on Friday night, officially clinching their spot in the MLB postseason.

Apparently, that celebration might have had a lingering affect on the team heading into Saturday’s matchup with the Tigers. With the regular season ending on Sunday and nothing meaningful to play for, Boston’s manager didn’t seem to mind playing at less than 100 percent for a day.

“We [were] able to celebrate yesterday, but they did a good job. They turned the page,” Cora said before the game. “They’re hungover, that’s the reality of it. But show up today and we’ll try to kick their ass.”
