A yacht drifts away, a naked man walks a dog, and missing cars turn up in the darnedest places

Every day, police officers respond to reports of all sorts of events and nonevents, most of which never make the news. Here is a sampling of lesser-known — but no less noteworthy — incidents from police log books (a.k.a. blotters) in our communities.

PRECIOUS MOMENT

On Sept. 11, a special little visitor stopped by the Franklin Fire Department: Gianna, a baby girl who had suffered a cardiac emergency just weeks before and survived thanks to the lifesaving care she received from Franklin’s first responders and Milford Regional Medical Center. When her parents brought her to the fire station, Gianna was the star of the show as firefighters took turns holding her. “Moments like these remind us why we serve,” fire department officials wrote in a social media post. “Gianna’s resilience and
