Rain, lightning hit Palm Springs area; an inch of rain possible

The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for a swath of Riverside County, including Palm Springs and nearby western portions of the Coachella Valley, Saturday afternoon as stormy weather moved into the area.

A flood advisory is issued by the agency when flooding is expected to occur imminently but not expected to be serious enough to justify a flood warning.
