The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued a red alert in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Palghar districts of Maharashtra, warning of heavy rain.

Hyderabad received 194.1 mm of rainfall in a single day on September 26th, which was 408% more than the normal 38.2 mm. Due to continuous rainfall and the release of water from Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar, the Musi River is flowing above the danger mark. Nearby residential colonies were flooded. 1,000 people were rescued.

Meanwhile, rain is also threatening the Durga Puja festivities in West Bengal. According to the Meteorological Department, a new low-pressure area will form in the Bay of Bengal on October 1st, bringing rain to several districts in South Bengal for the next seven days.
