JOHNSON CITY - The East Tennessee State University Buccaneers offensive was clicking until the final four possessions of the game and that cost them in a 38-34 loss to Mercer. Saturday’s game at Greene Stadium was the Southern Conference opener for both teams and it appeared the Bucs were in great position to win as they held a 10-point lead in the third quarter. But then came the final quarter where ETSU had two interceptions and a pair of punts. The Bears took advantage and scored twice in the final frame. The Bucs ran 80 plays, had 33 first downs and amassed 398 passing yards by quarterback Cade McNamara. The home team only had 69 rushing yards, however.
