Mumbai, Sep 28: Mumbai experienced heavy overnight rains under a 'red alert' warning, with rainfall intensity easing by early Sunday morning. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), parts of south Mumbai recorded over 100 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

Local train services on Central and Western Railways faced some delays, while buses of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) continued operations without diversions.

The IMD’s forecast at 8 am on Sunday predicted “cloudy skies with heavy to very heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms/lightning and gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph across the city and suburbs,” adding that there was a “possibility of extremely heavy rain at isolated places.”
