All four District 51 softball teams continued to show they mean business Saturday as Central, Grand Junction, Fruita Monument and Palisade all grabbed wins to close out a streak of dominance in the two-day Southwestern Classic at Canyon View Park.

Each Mesa County team won both of their contests on Friday, setting up the opportunity for a full Western Slope sweep on the weekend. Though the same level of dominance didn’t carry over into day two of the tournament, the four teams came incredibly close.

Central took care of business early in their early contest, jumping to a 6-0 lead in the top of the second inning thanks to an offensive outburst of four doubles and a pair of singles. The Warriors wouldn’t ease off the gas from there, striking for nine runs in the fifth to close out an 18-6
