CHICO, Calif. — A new apartment complex in Chico built for low- and middle-income families is now open, part of a broader effort to address the region’s housing shortage following the 2018 Camp Fire.
The Cussick Apartment Complex on West East Avenue reached full capacity before Friday’s official ribbon cutting. All 75 units — ranging from one- to four-bedroom apartments — are occupied.
Anthony Howard, one of the new tenants, said he pays $376 a month in rent, not including utilities.
“It’s been a blessing to have residence here,” Howard said. “I really enjoy it.”
