Bhubaneswar: The 2nd National Mediation Conference continued its deliberations on the theme “Mediation: Challenges and Way Forward” with Interactive Session-I on the second day. The session was chaired by Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Supreme Court of India, and co-chaired by Justice Vipul M. Pancholi and Justice M.M. Shrivastava.
The session focused on four key areas: mediation as a profession, government and mediation, building public trust in mediation, and mediation and access to justice. Justice Surya Kant emphasised the need for structured mediation, highlighting the shortage of mediators in the country, with only 13,000 mediators available against the required 2.5 lakh.
