During his conversation with the Leader on Saturday night, Braydon Allan made a surprising admission.
The 19-year-old, just minutes after being named Rookie of the Year at the Group 4 presentation night, conceded that he "should have stayed committed" instead of coming home at the start of the year.
Allan spent much of the 2025 preseason with the Newcastle Knights , training with their SG Ball squad.
Though he didn't earn a place in the side, the feedback was positive . However, he was ultimately forced to return to Tamworth.
"I came back because I had an injury and I needed more money and I couldn't get a house down there," Allan said.
Instead of returning to Newcastle, he signed with the Werris Creek Magpies this year and does not regret a minute of the time he spent there.
