Mumbai, Sept 28: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today appointed former Ranji Trophy cricketer Mithun Manhas as its new president.
He takes over from veteran cricketer Roger Binny, who recently resigned from the post.
The decision was formally announced after Manhas was unanimously elected. His name had been circulating in cricketing and administrative circles for the past few weeks, with reports suggesting he was the frontrunner for the position.
The BCCI has now confirmed his appointment, putting an end to speculation.
Manhas, a former Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir player, is well regarded for his long domestic career and leadership roles. His appointment is being seen as part of a generational shift in Indian cricket administration, bringing in younger and more recently
