While Punjab has decided to prioritise flood recovery and paddy procurement, and delay the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Haryana has already directed the District Electoral Officers (DEOs) to work on the new voter list.

The Punjab authorities have told the Election Commission of India that the entire government machinery was engaged in relief and paddy procurement operations.

In a meeting with the EC on September 10, the Punjab Chief Electoral Officer, Sibin C is learnt to have stated that Punjab had suffered the worst floods in its history with all 23 districts under effect.
