RALEIGH — One play sums up N.C. State football’s loss to Virginia Tech .
Terion Stewart, a 5-foot-9, 222-pound running back for the Hokies , had an 85-yard run in the third quarter that set up a momentum-swinging touchdown at Carter-Finley Stadium.
On that play, six Wolfpack defenders were in position to stop Stewart, who finished with 175 rushing yards on 15 carries. Stewart didn’t hit the ground until the seventh and eighth defenders finally took him down inside the 5-yard line.
“Their back ran through us, and there isn’t a scheme for that,” N.C. State coach Dave Doeren said after the Wolfpack’s 23-21 loss to the Hokies.
