Hyderabad: A 27-year-old man travelling from Bangkok was arrested at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on September 27, 2025 by Customs officials for carrying exotic wildlife in his checked-in luggage.
The custom officers recovered one monitor lizard, a rare two-headed red-eared slider turtle, four green iguanas, along with twelve iguanas from the his luggage. Officials confirmed that all the species are protected under wildlife protection laws. The possession and transport of these animals is illegal.
The seized animals were deported back to Bangkok.
