Jailed Sikh militant Jagtar Singh Hawara’s bedridden mother has appealed to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, seeking the release of her son on regular parole from Mandoli Central Jail in the national capital, where is serving life imprisonment for the assassination of former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh.
Rekha Gupta ’s office has forwarded the request made by Narinder Kaur, 81, to Home Minister Ashish Sood. A similar representation has been given to the National Commission for Minorities Chairperson Iqbal Singh Lalpura.
Giani Kuldip Singh Gargaj, officiating jathedar of the Akal Takht, has also appealed to the Government to give parole to Hawara.
