A missing toddler was found in a Temecula pool Saturday evening, Sept. 27, and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. She was later pronounced dead.

Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies were called just before 5 p.m. to the 30000 block of Wellington Circle, near Calle Medusa, after a report of a missing 3-year-old-child.

Deputies found the girl in a neighbor’s pool and rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived and she was hospitalized, a sheriff’s statement said.

The residential neighborhood is south of Nicolas Road, east of Highway 79/Winchester Road.

Freelance news video from the scene showed law enforcement and family members at Rancho Springs Hospital in Murrieta, where it was confirmed the girl had died.

The girl’s name was not immediately made public.
