A gold ingot weighing 1,650 gm and valued at Rs 1.5 crore was looted in a dramatic abduction in the city on the night of September 26.

Police said Mustafa, a jewellery store staffer, was intercepted near Car Street while transporting the gold on his scooter. A gang of six men—two on a bike and four in a car—threatened him with a knife, forced him into their vehicle, and seized his phone. They later recovered the hidden gold ingot from his scooter and transferred it to their car before abandoning him at Ujjodi.

Mustafa alerted his store manager, who rushed to his aid. Mangaluru North police have registered a case and are pursuing leads, expressing confidence of arresting the culprits soon.
