FARGO, N.D. — Cole Payton accounted for three touchdowns and North Dakota State rolled over South Dakota 51-13 to celebrate homecoming on Saturday.

The Bison scored touchdowns on each of their five first-half possessions and led 34-3 at halftime.

Nathaniel Staehling returned an interception 43 yards for a touchdown to make it 41-3 early in the third quarter.

North Dakota State's only punt came with 5 1/2 minutes remaining in the game.

The FCS top-ranked Bison (4-0, 1-0 Missouri Valley Football Conference) had touchdown drives of 77 and 90 yards on their first two possessions and led 13-0.
