Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown ahead of the festive season, police on Sunday seized illegal firecrackers valued at over Rs 2 lakh from a godown in Colonypada under Karlamunda block of Kalahandi district.
Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Risida police outpost officer-in-charge Manua Bidika raided the premises belonging to local businessman Rakesh Kedia. The firecrackers were reportedly being stored without proper authorisation.
Following the seizure, police have intensified search operations across multiple locations in Karlamunda to curb the illegal manufacture and storage of firecrackers in the run-up to Dussehra and Diwali.
