Arrenello’s Pizza only opens a new restaurant every couple decades.

The Chicago-style pizzeria opened in Glenwood in 1972, in Highland in 1992 and in Tinley Park 22 years later. Arrenello’s is now planning to open in St. John next spring.

It will serve its “that’s some-a-sweet pizza" in a new development at the intersection of Route 231 and Park Place by The Gates of St. John's main entrance.

"We've been looking to come to St. John for years," owner Richard Matokar said.

He was asked to come to Northwest Indiana and came to Highland because he liked white chocolate mousse cake and heard Butterfingers had a good one. The Chicago Tribune critic Phil Vettel proclaimed that the Highland pizzeria had the second best stuffed pizza in Chicagoland after it opened, and it has since been known
