The popular Cape May County Park and Zoo’s main playground is undergoing a $221,000 upgrade.
The work, which has closed the main playground area, is expected to be completed soon, officials said this week.
“It has doubled the size of our current playground, which was very large already,” according to Cape May County Parks Director Edward Runyon.
He said that the additional equipment was created with an all-inclusive design to accommodate children with special needs.
“With the growing popularity of the Park and Zoo we wanted to expand children’s experience with more things to climb and interact with at the playground,“ Runyon said.
The zoo’s visitor attendance last year was 730,000, Runyon said.
