Three members of the family featured in the TLC reality series "Meet the Putmans" have died in a car accident.
A statement released by the Putman family on Saturday, Sept. 27, said that Bill Putman, his wife Barb, and their daughter-in-law Megan were killed in a "tragic car accident."
Five other members of the family − Blake, Lulu, Alena, Noah and Gia − were injured and remain in the hospital, the family shared on social media.
"We ask for your continued prayers for Uncle Blake, Lulu, Alena, Noah, and Gia as they recover, and for our whole family as we walk through this deep loss," the statement read, adding, "Thank you for every prayer, message and act of love."
No additional details about the accident were given. USA TODAY has reached out to the Tuscola County Sheriff's Office in Michigan for information about the crash.
In 2017, the TLC reality show "Meet the Putmans" followed the lives of a large family of 25 living under one roof in Michigan. The show featured Bill Putman and his wife, Barb; their four adult children, Billy, Brandon, Blake and Blair, and the children's spouses; and their 15 grandchildren. The show aired for six episodes. The family later returned in the YouTube series "Growing Up Putman" in 2021.
"Growing up, we never said, 'Hey, let's live together. Let's try and find wives that will stay in the house,' or anything like that," Brandon Putman said in the first episode. "It's just something that happened."
"We're reincarnating the old family, where everybody took care of everybody, you combined your finances for one vision," Bill Putman also said on the show. "It's a beautiful thing, and it works."
In an update posted Sunday, Sept. 28, the Putman family said that Noah, son of Blake and Megan, is "still sedated, but we are so grateful to see that he is responding to us with movement." Gia, daughter of Brandon and his wife Kacie, underwent a craniotomy, and "her brain pressure has gone down significantly," the family added in what they called "encouraging" news.
"This is a powerful reminder that God's hand is on her, guiding her healing every step of the way," the family's statement said.
