PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Oregon's natural beauty is one of the state's biggest selling points.
With 255 state parks, one national park, and five other national park units, including national monuments, it encompasses more than 109,000 acres altogether.
According to Visit Oregon, the Oregon state parks system serves an estimated 54 million day-use and camping visitors every year, pumping more than a billion dollars into the state's economy.
For the past 10 years, Oregon Parks and Recreation Director Lisa Sumption has been at the helm of our parks system. She's the first woman to serve as director and recently received the Distinguished Service award from the National Association of State Parks Directors.
