BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) announced Louisiana will get nearly $50 million from the Migratory Bird Conservation Fund.
This money will help preserve over 20,000 acres of waterfowl habitat. It will also improve public access at two national wildlife refuges.
The Migratory Bird Conservation Commission approved $49,838,000 for Louisiana projects, according to a news release. This funding comes mainly from sales of Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamps, commonly called Duck Stamps.
“Whether it’s duck hunting at sunrise or casting a line in the afternoon, Louisianans know how important the outdoors are to our way of life,” Cassidy said. “This funding allows folks to keep enjoying while boosting local economies in North Louisiana.”
