FAYETTEVILLE, Ar. (KNWA/KFTA) - Sam Pittman will no longer be the head football coach at the University of Arkansas as he was dismissed from his duties by Vice Chancellor and Athletic Director Hunter Yurachek on Sunday.

Bobby Petrino will take over as interim head coach for the remainder of the season. He coached the Hogs from 2008-2011 before returning to the team last season to become the offensive coordinator.

“I want to thank Coach Pittman for his service and dedication to the University of Arkansas throughout his time as head coach,” Yurachek said. “From Day 1, you could tell how much this opportunity meant to him.
