FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. —

Former University of Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino has been named the interim head coach at Arkansas after the school fired Sam Pittman on Sunday.

Petrino, who currently serves as Arkansas' offensive coordinator, will lead the Razorbacks for the rest of the season.

"We will begin a national search for our next head coach immediately and that search will include Coach Petrino, who has expressed his desire to be a candidate for the full-time job," said Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek.

Petrino coached the Razorbacks from 2008-11 and won 21 games in his last two seasons before being ousted due to a string of off-field issues.

He returned to Fayetteville in 2023 to serve as the Razorbacks' offensive coordinator.
